Hello friends,
The talk I gave at TEDx Stormont a few weeks ago is now out.
It tells the story of my journey with the Psalms - from Tragedy Queen to young mother, from music to podcasts. It was a good chance for me to reflect on what I’ve learned over the decades of my “obsession” with the Psalms since I discovered them as a tool for balance and restoration when I was young. The talk concludes with three songs performed with my wonderful Celtic Psalms band (all who could be present that day… two members had to pull out due to illness, and my speaking and singing voice was really struggling due to my terrible cold!).
A friend of mine highlighted this quote:
“The simple acknowledgment of how we are and how we feel, that we don’t need to pretend, that we can be fully ourselves: this can be the beginning of healing and hope.”
May this offer you some food for thought as you begin your Lenten journey… May you find those spaces in your day where you can acknowledge how you are and how you feel, where you don’t need to pretend, where you can be fully yourself in the presence of a listening and loving God.

p.s. If you’re in the Belfast or Derry area, we have Candlelight concerts coming up during Holy Week. It would be an honor to have you with us.
p.p.s. Tomorrow will be week 3 of Journeying the Psalms, a new short form podcast featuring a song per week, with accompanying journal. You can purchase the journal here or receive it included with paid membership with either Bless My Feet or Psalms for the Spirit podcast. You can listen to the podcast (for free) each week if you want a little nugget on the Psalms to mull over. I’m trying to keep it super short and sweet, and it’s mainly music!
Here’s the TEDx talk on YouTube. Please excuse the funny look on my face in the thumbnail!
Blessings on your Lent…
It was such a privilege to be included in the TEDx Stormont 2024 cohort. Here’s a photo of the gang ~ including some new friends I wouldn’t have had an occasion to meet otherwise! Everyone did such an amazing job, and I learned so much from them.
What a blessing to listen to your beautiful story, music and psalms this morning! Thanks so much for sharing your discovery and creativity with the world!
